A palette of colors, from the turquoise sea, the gold of the beaches until the Mediterranean greenery and pine forests where coexist harmoniously sea and nature this is the Costa degli Etruschi landscapes etched in the works of the macchiaioli and able to conquer the great Modigliani. An area where the colors and scents of the sea meet and mingle with the smells and flavours of the most typical Tuscan tradition.

 

HISTORY AND NATURE THE INDISSOLUBLE INTERWEAVING

The Costa degli Etruschi includes the coastal stretch that runs from Livorno to Piombino, the beauty of these places is reflected in the Bandiere Blu obtained its beaches last year (2017): Castiglioncello and Vada (Rosignano Marittimo), Gorette (Cecina), the Beach Marina di Castagneto Carducci, just to name a few. Here history and literature intersect, in Castagneto Carducci, you can visit the birthplace of the poet Giosuè, in whose Museum and archive are preserved manuscripts, photographs and memorabilia.

Along the Etruscan coast is also the Oasi faunistica di Bolgheri, first established in Italy by the WWF, an important refuge for many animal species.

The history of this area is looped in with the evolution of the Etruscans to the Roman invasion. Today's left track in various Etruscan necropolis between the Golfo di Baratti and Populonia, only major Etruscan town built along the coastline, where you can still admire the ancient Etruscan walls and remains of Roman buildings.

Start from Livorno the Strada del Vino e dell’Olio Costa degli Etruschi, here comes the Sassicaia, one of the most prestigious wines in the world, symbol of the Tuscan Coast. And the equally renowned Bolgheri wine, with over forty companies in the area that are now part of the Consortium Bolgheri DOC.
