Play Video

The Val di Chiana is a mix of flavours and attractions. The name Val di Chiana is connected to one of the oldest Italian meat: the Chianina.

AN AUTHENTIC AND RICH IN RESOURCES TERRITORY

The territory of Val di Chiana or Valdichiana looks like a valley filled with Plains, but also of high reliefs, and covered with a thick blanket of forested. It is crossed by the Canale Maestro della Chiana, followed in parallel from the cycle and hiking trail called the path of reclamation. This is a path which, being free from unevenness, you cross safely. Particularly striking are the two lakes that we encounter in this area: Lago di Montepulciano and Chiusi's Lake, are called "clear" by the people for color that characterizes them.

The Val di Chiana in antiquity was known as "the breadbasket of Etruria" for the productivity of its soil and for the prosperity of its crops. But this land has always had the same appearance: it is thanks to the reclamation of Pietro Leopoldo in the 13th century that he bring it to the land rich in agricultural areas that it is now.

THE CARNIVAL OF FOIANO DELLA CHIANA

The most famous event that is celebrated in this land is the "Carnevale di Foiano della Chiana". It turns out to be one of the oldest in Italy, who would be born around the sixteenth century. Attracts people from all over the world for its grandeur and see take the parade, with spectacular choreography along the streets of the village of Foiano della Chiana.
