The Lucchesia is traditionally a territory with strong agricultural vocation, since the Etruscan settlement her lands were intended for cultivation. Given its strategic location was gradually urbanized in Roman and later through the establishment of the Duchy of Lucca, developed in the middle ages a large network of businesses that brought the city to become the main centre of the local watchmakers.
