THE HISTORIC MEDIEVAL FORTEZZA DEL CERRUGLIO IMMERSED IN THE GREEN TUSCAN HILLS

Montecarlo is positioned in the middle between Valdinievole and the Lucchesia, area to which it belongs. Place in the countryside and passing along the Strada del Vino e dell'Olio.

Originally the hamlet of Montecarlo did not exist, and was named in memory of Emperor Carlo IV of Luxembourg who had favored the liberation Lucca from Pisa's auspices.

Montecarlo shows his fascination with the Fortezza del Cerruglio, still intact since it was built in the first half of the fourteenth century.

 

Traditions and Typical products

Monte Carlo production site of one of the best Tuscan wines and its ground are some of the specialties Made in Tuscany in Lucca.

The Montecarlo rosso DOP and Montecarlo bianco DOP, excellence of local production. Wines protagonists of tourism and wine and food Strada del Vino e dell'Olio, that always accompany meat dishes and cured meats.
