The Valdarno Inferiore is an area that appears to be drawn from the Arno's River. Earth always rich in settlements, is known for the river that runs through it.
A LAND SUSPENDED BETWEEN MYSTERY AND NATURE
The land area of the Valdarno Inferiore extends by Montelupo in Pisa, where the Arno's River reaches the sea. Its territory, rich in lush Plains and surrounded by hills covered by thick vegetation, lends itself very well to long walks discovering mysterious places immersed in the thick mantle.
CROSSROADS OF VALUABLE TRADE
The municipalities that have emerged from century to century were born by the reclamation took place around the year 1000. Every village or town brings with it a history made of continuous fights between Florence and Pisa to obtain these lands and in most cases the towns were a place of Exchange and commercial transport. You notice today the route of the Via Francigena that passed through this Valley.
Traditions and Typical products
The territory is historically known for artisan districts ; and in fact has always been known as the "area of leather."
The lower Valdarno is packed with fairs including in Pisa on Carnevale di San Martino e Banchi di gusto, a market of tastings.
This land, as a bit of Tuscany is full of gourmet products, among them the most famous are: the white truffle of San Miniato, the "rigatino finocchiato del Valdarno", "cenci" (typical of Carnival), the "zolfino's beans", oil Valdarno chicken and olive.

The municipalities of the Valdarno Inferiore are: Kicking, Cascina, Castelfranco di Sotto, Montopoli in Val d'Arno, San Giuliano Terme, San Miniato, Santa Croce sull'Arno, Santa Maria a Monte, Vecchiano and Vicopisano.
