Mandorlata di Montalcino

The Mandorlata di Montalcino is a typical dessert in the province of Siena which is made with almonds, honey and candied fruit. The mixture of these ingredients you get a cake from the round shape and flat whose texture is quite soft.
Mandorlata was created to provide an alternative to traditional panforte, here the strong aroma of spices is replaced with a unique taste of bitter almond.

Mandorlata is produced by a renowned pastry of Montalcino who manages to achieve a quantity of 50 tons per year. The cake is predominantly deployed in the area but a small amount is paid to the rest of Tuscany and abroad.
