Montalbano is a beautiful area of Tuscany consists of a hilly expanse and a mountainous area stretching from the Apennines clasping the Arno River, the most important river in the region. Inside you can visit a number of scenic landscapes and towns that preserve the remains of the ancient Etruscans who settled in the past.

 

BETWEEN MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE BEAUTY INFLUENCES

Montalbano has a rich and ancient history from the medieval footprint coded first Etruscan urbanization as a result of its position between the main cities of the region. Since the 16th century, during the Renaissance, the entire area attracted the attention of the historical family of doctors who built villas, as hunting residences for its beautiful landscape.

Montalbano suggestive territory located between the upper Valdarno and the plain of Florence, Prato and Pistoia that is distinguished by the presence of beautiful medieval and Renaissance seals.

Land of green hilly countryside, has within it all the features buttons in Tuscany with archaeological sites recorded by the presence of Artimino, one of the last towns to visit North of the River Arno.

Typical products

The typical products of Montalbano are IGP Toscano extra virgin olive oil "menzione Montalbano", which you can taste and buy in local mills in different variations, and the mushrooms.

Then there are the prized branded wines DOC and DOCG, produced in wineries where you can meet a wide selection:

  • Carmignano DOCG, delicate taste of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc,
  • Chianti Montalbano DOCG, a round red that can enhance the Tuscan cuisine in full
  • Vin Santo di Carmignano, Vin Ruspo and more particular flavour
