The Valle dell'Ombrone, across the River from which it takes its name, is characterized by alternating the green expanses of fields and rolling hills.


Valley full of castles and medieval villages

The Valle dell'Ombrone extends in the province of Grosseto and Siena; It is bordered by the Chianti hills and the Crete Senesi in the North, while the South is bounded by the Maremma and the Colline Metallifere. Rich in Mediterranean scrub and landscapes that weave through the course of the river Ombrone, this valley is well suited for long walks in the nature.

Estates, castles and medieval villages make this land a treasure to be discovered and explored. 


Traditions and Typical products

The Valle dell'Ombrone is also a land of well-being and relaxation; Straddling the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, along the river Farma, there are the thermal baths of Petriolo. Already known in Roman times are highly popular among tourists, are free hot springs and are characterized by high temperatures touching 43 degrees. Among the products of the Valley you can enjoy the finest cinta senese meats. The honey together with mushrooms and chestnuts are another resource of this magnificent area.



The municipalities that belong to this land area are: Monticiano and Sovicille.
