Typical senese's sweet bread

Pan co ' Santi also called Pan dei Morti is a sweet bread of round shape that is produced in the provinces of Siena and Grosseto.

In Siena is the dessert that is prepared in the vicinity of 1 November "Ognissanti", from here derives its name. Tourists looking for new Tuscan delicacies to discover they are struck for its special flavor and original.

This is a bread stuffed with nuts and raisins and flavored with black pepper that has its roots in tradition, of which there are traces in the famous book by Giovanni Righi relatives, ' La Cucina Toscana. Pan co' Santi with a dark brown colour, is a sweet fragrant and quite soft, which is cooked in wood-fired ovens.

Siena homes is very easy to find this product between the end of October and throughout the month of November. Every family preserves its own recipe: there are those who prefer sweeter, accompanied by an excellent Wine and salty accompanied by a Chianti Classico.
