In Casentino a picturesque path of inestimable artistic value

Friday, July 27 at 21.30 hours is expected the exceptional opening of the ancient library and other rooms of the Hermitage of Camaldoli at Poppi, Arezzo. First-time visitors, after a thousand years, will discover an extraordinary artistic heritage and library ever seen before.

Lux in Arcana ' is the name of the event that will offer a fascinating journey inside the Hermitage at night through:

  • the novitiate;
  • the library;
  • the Church;
  • the Chapter House;
  • the chapel of Guillaume de Marcillat.

For the occasion in the ancient library (documented since 1253) will be set up, an unprecedented exhibition of works of art of inestimable value, such as:

  • the Madonna di Camaldoli, formerly attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci;
  • the small sketch (1631) with the vision of Saint Romuald by Andrea Sacchi, a preparatory work for a large canvas, now preserved in the Vatican museums;
  • the pectoral cross of Parma ' of gold and 28 jewels, two dedicated with the relics of the Holy Cross in ivory and rock crystal and silver plaque depicting the battle of Pavia by Giovanni Bernardi.

The idea of the event was born from the meeting of Don Ubaldo Cortoni, a camaldolese monk and historian with art historian Michel Scipioni. The initiative is supported by the Foundation of Camaldoli culture and the municipality of Poppi and Bibbiena.
