The traditional cookie of the Bisenzio Valley

Zuccherini di Vernio are delicious biscuits of Bisenzio Valley in the form of small Donuts, prepared with a traditional handmade dough. To achieve them, you'll need: a pound of flour, mix with four eggs along with a pound of sugar; fifty grams of butter, a packet of yeast, aniseed and a small amount of anise liquor.

The dough obtained, molded to give him a doughnut shape, is left then rest in the oven. During cooking it is preparing the icing that is used to coat the cookies and give him the unique twist that makes them special. Are dissolved half a pound of sugar with a little water and some anise liqueur, finger to dip after baking bagels baked in old copper pans.

Originally they were considered a luxury for the cost of the ingredients required to prepare them, and "baked" only on special occasions such as weddings or festivals.
