The villa where D'annunzio wrote "La pioggia nel pineto"

La Versiliana is a historic villa located in the ancient forest known as the stain of Marina in Marina di Pietrasanta, Lucca province. The majestic villa is set in a real green expanse, about eight hundred square metres of parkland. The Villa is know because in 1906 Gabriele D'Annunzio lived here and wrote the poem La pioggia nel pineto.

The Foundation Versiliana in addition to managing the municipal theatre, the Theatre in the Park La Versiliana and the theatre on the roundabout of the jetty, organizes during the summer right in the Versiliana Park, the "Festival La Versiliana", one of the most famous internationally.

La Versiliana, now at its 39th Edition, takes place in the spaces adjacent to the Villa and is a set of events to suit all tastes and ages. The festival takes place in a natural setting that harmonious backdrop for meetings, performances and art exhibitions. Outdoor film screenings, comedy shows, plays, concerts, meetings with the protagonists of politics, sports and more fill the striking location for two consecutive months.
