Workmanship of the ceramics

A Tuscan art commissioned by the Medici in Mugello

The pottery is an ancient tradition in Mugello created around the sixteenth century by the Medici family. A culture where dedication, passion and craftsmanship have yielded artifacts of high artistic value.

Is the fascinating origin of pottery factory, inside of the villa medicea di Cafaggiolo, that at the beginning of the ' 900 the Chini family decided to open in Borgo San Lorenzo a furnace, laboratory handamade rolls toscano .  The production of fine ceramics met throughout development thanks to the expert hands of the master craftsman Galileo Chini, Liberty of the most representative Italian artist who made great the "furnace of San Lorenzo ".

Today pottery continues to have great importance in Mugello. Some shops survive and keep intact the charm of craftsmanship, visible in small trays, plates, cups or pots. It was as the old kiln of San Lorenzo, the most representative building of one of the most important Tuscan traditions.
