Open air music, to discover Pistoia
From Friday 13 to Sunday 15 August 2018 Pistoia is preparing to welcome the 39° Edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival, the long-awaited event dedicated to blues music, the oldest in Italy.
Music and entertainment, combination that involves all the streets of Pistoia, with events scattered among the historic streets in the weeks leading up to the big event. A set of suggestions, fun and music, which always brings together people from all over Italy and abroad, under one sky, one of the square in the heart of the old town, where the main stage.
Right in Duomo square, between the Cathedral of San Zeno, the Town Hall and the Court which is reached along via degli Orafi, the Tuscan city was conquered, since 1980, the reputation of the House of music. On that occasion, Muddy Waters, the father of blues music of Chicago opened the first event along with other great artists, including Italian Pino Daniele. A starting point that has consolidated a tradition for Pistoia, as in art and culture, able to bring together the excellence of our national and international music scene.
The festival, fixture of the Tuscan summer, grew in importance over time not only thanks to the artists who have ventured into unique performances, but also for the many initiatives and markets that accompanied them in beautiful stitches of the city.
Stalls scattered throughout the city and small concerts become the perfect opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere that reigns during the weeks leading up to the event. A program for lovers of entertainment, of the city and markets; suitable for everyone, living both day and night! Among the most important:
- Alanis Morrisette, with his wonderful voice, will open the festival on Tuesday 10 July while awaiting the big concerts of the weekend
- La Notte Rosa, the event to experience the city after sunset, meet and enjoy the live band in the historic centre
During the duration of the event you can live in its most beautiful location. Piazza della Sala, an historic meeting place for the inhabitants of Pistoia, has always been a special occasion for tasting typical products of Tuscan cuisine and fine wines of the territory. The Loggiato San Leone, to enjoy the live music, but also theaters, with many shows that have alternated over the years.
The Pistoia Blues that has hosted over the years, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Ronnie Wood, David Bowie, Franco Battiato, Alex Britti and Zucchero, is preparing for the 2018 Edition to receive other great artists. By Steve Hackett, James Blunt, not forgetting the Supersonic Blues Machine and Mark Lanegan; all ready to ensure performance.
