Female entrepreneurship is a major player in our country and critical to economic growth. Women entrepreneurs significantly contribute to the good performance of made in Tuscany and made in Italy in general.


A positive example


Female enterprise is a powerful engine that not only touches the areas of economics, finance or industry but it also means the rebirth of the territories.

From this perspective the "Associazione Nazionale Donne Del Vino" is a reality.

The Association is non-profit and is committed to the promotion of wine culture and the role of women in the wine production chain. Founded in the late eighties of the last century, today it can boast about 800 members throughout Italy, including producers, restaurateurs, wine shop proprietors, sommeliers, winemakers and journalists.

This reality has been existing for thirty years and still today maintains its ability to bring values ??and interests. The Associazione Nazionale delle Donne del Vino is dedicated to the promotion of the territory and healthy living.

The woman has a maternal approach to the land that cultivates and cares with particular attention and she is committed in the quality processing of all its fruits.

An approach to the wine world full of passion and love that is repaid by the excellent results obtained.


Made in Tuscany is female


Donatella Cinelli Colombini is the current President of the "Associazione Nazionale Donne del Vino" and is a  DOC Tuscan. Siena is her city and here, along with her staff entirely female, she produces both excellent Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti.

Her family is in the world of wine production since ever and in 1998 she decided to start her own company based in Montalcino and Trequanda. In 1993 she gives rise to a one-day event that still earns great success, "Cantine Aperte" that brings every year, in Italian wineries, thousands of fans.

According to President Colombini women have made great strides but there is still a long way to go. In Italy 28% of the wineries and 24% of wine shops are managed by women and also in Toscana female wine makers  are numerous and represent a positive example of leadership and best practice.

It is indisputable that the female weight within an enterprise, not only in Tyuscany, is crucial especially for the quality and quantity of relationships it can build, a network of relations essential to sell and gain the market. In fact, it is also thanks to female entrepreneurs of this region that the Tuscan brand is so well known and appreciated.

In this sense the support of institutions is important and the "Regione Toscana", also for current year, has provided interest-free grants for start-up and new businesses run by women.

The number firms led by women is substantial in Tuscany and we can only hope that it continues to grow!
