ETRUSCAN CULTURE SURROUNDED BY GREENERY
Surrounded to the East by Preappennines, Castiglion Fiorentino spans part of Tuscany until the river San Chimento. Among the main architectural relics of the city include the logge del Vasari that run through the main square of the Town Hall as well as the Tower del Cassero, built on the basis of an earlier Etruscan structure, other points the oldest in the village. Its raised position is the ideal point from which to observe in all its glory the Tuscan countryside.
Traditions and Typical products
The specialty of Castiglion Fiorentino is the oil obtained from the olive trees grown in the surrounding countryside and retrieved in local mills. The event that celebrates this speciality is Oliomangiando, an event where you can taste it in the typical Tuscan dishes, the last weekend of November.
In "I Giorni di Bacco", local event that animates the historic center in the last two weekends in October, are instead offered the traditional wines of Arezzo including the Selvatico Riserva, round and persistent or Cantomoro, balsamic wine to accompany meat dishes.
