THE MUNICIPALITY LIES ON THE SLOPES OF MONTE MORELLO

The birth of the municipality of Sesto Fiorentino near rivers Rimaggio and Zambra is traced back to 1869. Researches show that though has been inhabited since the Mesolithic and the graves in the locality Palastreto testify to the presence of the Etruscans in these lands; While the Roman date back water works and reclamation and construction of the aqueduct.

The territory alternates between hills and Plains and dotted with ancient houses and stately homes.

From Sesto, take the "strada dei Colli Alti" along the flanks of Mount Morello, a succession of picturesque views. The Center was formed during the middle ages around the parish "Chiesa di San Martino". During the Renaissance and in the following centuries Sixth followed the fortunes of Firenze which was Town Hall.

Tradition and Typical products

Among the traditions we find the "Festa dell’Olio" celebrating one of the agricultural products that characterise Tuscany. Sesto Fiorentino cuisine retraces traditional Tuscan with wine, olive oil and salami.
