Scoppio del Carro in Florence

Traditional event on Easter Sunday

Every year in Florence, Easter Sunday is celebrated a special tradition for over 350 years, the Scoppio del Carro. Starts at 10.00 am and is rooted in historical and religious events.

The Carro (also called the "Brindellone") decorated and shaped like a 3-storey tower is drawn by oxen decorated for the streets of the historic center of Florence.

Once you get below the baptistery of the Duomo, the sacred fire (a dove-shaped rocket, called "Colombina" symbolizing the Holy Spirit), is launched from inside the Cathedral in which we celebrate the Mass, the cart stocked with Fireworks. Tank exploding fireworks, pyrotechnic scenario that portends a florid crop for the city.
