The Gallic Rose, probably native to Western Asia, is known since the year 1000 B.C. by Persians and Egyptians, but had its splendor in Roman times. It was later re-imported to Europe during the Crusades by the Earl of Champagne in 1240.

The most well-known Gallic Rose is the Gallic Officinalis used as a red rose symbol of the Lancaster in the War of the two roses as opposed to the white Rose of York (Rosa Alba).

The Gallic roses reached the highest popularity at the beginning of the 19th century in France, where the Rose mania was encouraged by Josephine, Napoleon's wife.

The flowering is unique and fragrant, the colors are very marked. The Rosai have low, slender, and shaggy stems; The leaves are dark green. The flowers are red, pink or purple; The scent is sweet and intense.

Suggestions for use: with a strong and distinctive flavour, it has a slight bitter aftertaste. It is matched with seasoned cheeses or roast game.

* With the purchase, recipe ideas will be provided.
