Christmas markets in Tuscany

The Christmas period is fast approaching and you can not miss a visit to one of the Christmas markets in Tuscany to do some shopping and fully enter the magical and evocative atmosphere of this period.

So not only for kids, but even if you're already older, a stroll through one of Tuscany's Christmas markets, with charming typical wooden houses decorated with fir twigs and glittering lights, is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a hot chocolate with whipped cream or other regional gourmet dishes, while listening to traditional Christmas carols.

Florence

Weihnachtsmarkt

Where: Piazza Santa Croce

Dates: from 20th November to 19th December

This is the traditional German Christmas Market with wooden chalets and Christmas decorations from all over Europe. German dishes such as gingerbread, strudel and typical clothing are the masters: during the Florentine Weihnachtsmarkt it will also be possible to buy the Christmas CD whose proceeds will go to support the activity of the ATT, the Tuscan Cancer Association onlus.

Arezzo

Tyrolean Village of Italy

Where: Piazza Grande

Dates: from 20th November to 26th December

The main square of Arezzo returns to host the traditional wooden houses run by original Tyrolean merchants from the Christmas markets of Salzburg, Merano and Bolzano. You will find handicrafts such as wool slippers, soft soft toys, Tyrolean tablecloths, jewelry and costume jewelry, Christmas decorations for your tree, candles, cups and teapots.

You can also taste delicious foods such as Tyrolean speck, strudel and drink, depending on your taste, hot chocolate or a cup of mulled wine.

Siena

The Market in the Field

Where: Piazza del Campo

Dates: 4th and 5th December

On 4 and 5 December 2021 the Mercato nel Campo in Siena returns, the stalls of the Mercato nel Campo will return in the first weekend of December: you can immerse yourself in the suggestion of an old medieval market set up at the time of the Sienese Constitution of 1309; there will be numerous exhibitors with products and items of various kinds, all very suggestive.

Christmas Village

Where: Montepulciano

Dates: from 20th November 2021 to 6th January 2022

The Christmas Village in Piazza Grande is back, including the characteristic market with wooden houses in Tyrolean style, the largest in central Italy.  The medieval fortress becomes for the occasion the Castle of Santa Claus full of surprises and attractions.

Lucca

Dates: from 27 November to 19 December

One of the most glamorous places in Tuscany offers a very rich market where you can find Christmas decorations for the home, toys for children and many other things to buy as a gift for your family and friends.
