Italy's longest suspension bridge is in Tuscany

For lovers of nature and extreme emotions, Tuscany always gives great satisfaction.

Among the many possible destinations there are certain to be missed, one of these is the San Marcello Pistoiese suspension bridge that is located in the mountain area of Pistoia.

A suspended footbridge, the longest of the peninsula, which connects both sides of the river Lima.

A bit of history
 

The so called Ponte delle Ferriere was designed to ensure that workers could easily reach several factories in the area.

The creator of the work was of noble Vincenzo Douglas Scotti, Director of a mill in the area, which he named Filiberto Davidson and Caesar Vannucci as project supervisor. The structure was inaugurated in 1923.

The bridge became known internationally, in 1990, when he joined the Guinness Book of records as the longest suspension bridge in the world.
