Boat trip along Isola del Giglio

Discovering coves and stunning beaches

Isola del Giglio is one of the beautiful islands along with Giannutri,Elba, Pianosa, Capraia and other smaller islands make up the beautiful Tuscan archipelago.

To reach the island of Giglio are to disposition of the regular ferries which take about an hour and a half to reach Giglio Porto and depart exclusively from Porto Santo Stefano.

For a day trip toccata and Fugue, for one day, you can rely on small shipping companies enhance embark also by Castiglione della Pescaia and organise cruises that touch both the lily that Giannutri that Elba.

While vacationing at Lily, the circumnavigation of the island which allows you to discover beautiful beaches and hidden bays is an experience to put absolutely on your list of things to do.

Once you have chartered a boat, with driver or less depending on your needs, here are the natural wonders not to be missed.

 

West coast
 

This slope that goes from the Faraglione del Golfo del Giglio Campese to the southern point where is the Faro del Capel Rosso, is the most stony and barren island, rich in Mediterranean vegetation. This side is very well known because of the old mine and is very charming. Don't miss the alum Cove where the water is green and crystal clear.

 

East coast
 

On the eastern shore lies the hamlet of Giglio Porto with its lively Harbour. Here the vegetation is most dense and hosts several forests of Oaks and chestnut trees.  Many are the coves from which enjoy, all with wonderful clear making theCaribbean water!  Cala del Corvo, in addition to offering a thriving vegetation, is characterized by a small cave quite impressive. There is also the beaches of Caldane, delle Cannelle and Arenella.

 

The lighthouses of the island
 

Isola del Giglio has two towering lighthouses that are worth visiting:

  • To the Northeast the Fenaio Lighthouse which stands on the headland Punta Fenaio from which it takes its name.
  • In the southernmost tip of the island is the Faro del Capel Rosso characterised both by the typical red and white stripes that the numerous granite rocks that surround it.
