THE ANCIENT VILLAGE OF PREHISTORIC ORIGIN

Villafranca in Lunigiana is situated in the heart of the hilly and partly flat of the Magra's river which crosses much of green territory. Surrounded by a lush forest dominated by tall Oaks and dense chestnut forests, this village has an ancient history dating back to prehistoric times.

The village is of precious finds of Statue Stele della Lunigiana, has many details beautiful churches to visit. The Chiesa di San Lorenzo, Romanesque architecture is characterized by a beautiful sandstone Portal and finishes white limestone present in the façade that make it truly unique.

 

Traditions and Typical products

Villafranca allows you to enjoy the Lunigiana cuisine. The villages that surround it, as they allow a stop in Fillet Fornoli and many dining options present to discover the taste of the testaroli and various recipes made with chestnut flour.

One of the oldest traditions of Villafranca is the Procession in honor of Saint Nicholas, where the folklore of ancient villagers in party staged each year a large bonfire in honor of the Saint in next to the nearby park of the country.
