Palio delle botti of Suvereto

Palio is not only riding!

Accomplishes almost 50 years the traditional Palio delle Botti of Suvereto Val di Cornia.

Like the Palio di Siena, also that of Suvereto is held twice a year. The first edition, il Palio di Santa Croce takes place on the Sunday before the May 3 in honor of the patron saint of the city. The Second Edition, the Emperor's Palio is held every year on August 13. On the streets of the village there is an air of celebration, the evening of the palio the Palio is held dinner in the cloister of San Francesco. Is a dinner open to all, even to visitors who want to immerse themselves in the tradition of this ancient village.

Towards evening, as happens in the Bravìo di Montepulciano, the casks started on the streets of Suvereto. Heavy five bushels are driven by participants through the streets of the town. The event also includes parades and performances by flag-waving, which make it even more attractive the reenactment.
