BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES SPRINKLED FROM ANCIENT CHURCHES

The territory of Scandicci stretches along the river Arno and offers its visitors beautiful scenery dotted by villages, ancient villas and churches. The architecture and history of Scandicci are linked to many parish churches as the ancient Abbazia di San Salvatore and San Lorenzo also called Badia di Settimo.

In the heart of the town is the fourteenth-century Castello dell'Acciaiolo surrounded by a vast garden, historic house now publicly owned which preserves the scalloped walls and towers. It has become a place of events, concerts and summer events. To visit the Parco di Poggio Valicaia containing many installations and contemporary sculptures.

Among the many churches in the area of Scandicci, Santa Maria in Greve and San Bartolo in Tuto which preserve works of art like the Madonna con bambino by Giovanni da Milano. The story of Scandicci, like that of many hamlets in the municipality is traced back to the romans.
