Ponsacco is positioned in the plain of the Valdera, surrounded by the lush Tuscan countryside.

The town's history is intertwined with the clashes between the Republic of Florence and the Republic of Pisa, given its strategic location halfway between the two cities. In 1300 the historic center was built around the Castle built by Pisa, but today there is no trace because during battles in the middle ages the Florentines destroyed it.

In Ponsacco, you can visit an example of fascinating Medicean architecture. Villa Niccolini, the residence of Duke Alessandro de ' Medici in the heart of the village of Camugliano.

In Chiesa di San Frediano you can see a representation of the Madonna e Gesù Bambino by Bronzino. Sacred artwork that occupies the top of the altar.
